I agree with you. I have gotten such a strong attachment to my topic. I am so passionate about it and want to go do something about it. I am glad i got to write about it and really research the topic to find the real facts.

I agree with you. I am really happy that this class was not about grammar. I think it was so much more beneficial to have the class the way it was. I learned so much in this class and I probably would have checked out if the entire class was about grammar.

It was probably better that you did not know much about it. You probably got such a good insight to the steroids and how they effect the players. It is also really cool you did an issue that is actually around something that you like. I could not imagine having to research a topic that I was so uninterested in.

I am so happy to be done with our final inquiry paper. It is such a huge relief to be done with the biggest project in this class. I think I did a pretty good job for the execution of my paper. I really would like to get a good grade on this paper. I am really proud of the work I did also. I have never written a paper this long and it is a huge accomplishment. I have never been very confident in my writing. English is one of my worst subjects but I feel really confident in the paper that I wrote. I think I did really good because I was so passionate about my topic. I loved researching sex trafficking. I thought it was so interesting and really important. The only thing that I am worried about is that my paper was a little informative. I had so much information to be told and not really a huge argument. I had the argument that sex trafficking was immoral and wrong but everyone knows sex trafficking is immoral and wrong. I tried to go with my argument and best as I could but it was not easy. I also was a little repetitive but I tried to work on that as best as I could. Those were really the only things I am worried about for my paper. I had all my friends and family read my paper so I could have the best paper possible. I am really proud of the work I accomplished. I am also very excited to be done with my presentation. I was a little stressed because I signed up to do my presentation the same day as my presentation for my communications class. I had to practice both presentations the night before. I was so stressed out because I had to do both presentations and study for a test. Although it was a very stressful week, I am really happy to be done with the presentation. I think my presentation was very informative and I think a lot of people got something out of it. I really liked the video I used because it had some really great statistics that really got you thinking. I was watching the faces of my class members and it looked like the video really touched them. I am glad I got to tell the class the real facts about sex trafficking because not everyone knows. I also really like hearing everyone else’s presentations. It is cool to see all the other topics that are being discussed in our class. I cannot believe some of the issues that my classmates are researching. They are very interesting. I think it is really cool that we have so many different topics. I really did actually like this class. Although there was a lot of work and English is not my good subject, I really actually enjoyed this class. The teacher made it easy to learn and was so helpful with everything.

I completely agree that everything we have done in this class has been beneficial to the paper we are writing now. Reading the scholarly journals, doing the bibliographies, and not the peer reviews have all helped our paper that we are writing now. I never thought doing all that stuff would actually help, but it has helped me so much.

I agree that doing the annotated bibliographies were really helpful. When I was actually doing them I thought they were a pain, but if i had not done them I would go blank on all the research I had done. I just wish I had written a little more so I could remember more details of the scholarly journals i read.

I agree that you have to have passion about the topic you are writing about. I could not even imagine trying to write and research for weeks about a topic that I hated. I also agree that the peer responses help immensely with our writing. I think they not only help the people we are peer reviewing but help ourselves with our writing.

I have been working really hard on my paper. I have put so much time and effort into this paper. I never thought in high school that I would ever be able to write a nine page paper. When I discovered my topic I knew that this may be possible because I really enjoy the topic. I have taken many hours of my day to work on my paper. Doing the peer review really helped me a lot. I thought how I had written my paper was pretty good. When I got back the peer reviews it really helped me discover what I was doing wrong. I did not realize that I was turning my essay into an informative essay. I have so much information and knowledge on the topic that it seemed like I did not have enough room for my argument. I have been working on creating a better argument for each paragraph. Although my essay is a little bit informative, I feel that it is necessary to share all the information I have discovered. All the examples and details I read about were so insane and extreme I had to share them. Some of the examples of the actual events that happen in the brothels are crazy. No one would ever think something that crazy would take place in such an open environment. Another thing I need to work on is my thesis statement. I feel that it is not very strong and it needs to have a better argument. I need to provide my audience with a more detailed description of what I am going to be talking about in my essay. I do not really have a thesis statement right now that pertains to what I am talking about. I think I am going to change my argument to why sex trafficking is wrong and immoral. I think it is a valid argument because there are many people that think sex trafficking is okay. Many people support sex trafficking and think it helps society. There are families of the girls that are in it that think it is morally right to sell their daughter to the brothels to help their families. Then if I use that argument it will go right along and make it easier for me to create an argument with the information I already have and used.

I also think that peer reviewing other people has helped me with my writing immensely. It has really helped me see what not to do. A lot of the people have the same problems as me. It is easier to spot the things I am doing wrong in my paper because i have seen other people do the same mistake in theirs. It is also nice to get feedback from the professor because she is the one who will be grading it. I think it is really helping my overall writing. Doing this project has made me more confident in my writing. Even though writing is not my subject I do not mine doing it as much as I used to.

I don’t want people to get the wrong idea when I post this picture because it isn’t me taking an aggressive stance on the issue one way or another. The purpose of this illustration is to demonstrate the power that Facebook has in our daily lives. I know I don’t speak for everyone when I say this, but I used to spend so much of my day on Facebook. It was ridiculous. Back in high school, during the night time, I could literally sit at my computer and drift through my Facebook for hours; chatting occasionally with people and once in a while adding a new “friend.” The point being that I lost a boat load of valuable and potentially productive time to Facebook. But like I’ve stated this isn’t the case with everyone so now I will present some statistics of Facebook usage and what would happen if it disappeared. Obizmedia states the following statistics about Facebook in their presentation A World Without Facebook “The average Facebook visit is approximately 23 minutes.” Okay, let us back up for a second; If the average Facebook user visits Facebook approximately 90 times a month and each time they visit they stay about 23 minutes, that is an average time spent on Facebook per month of 2,070 minutes (90x23). Dang!!!!….and that is only taking account of the times the user creates material on Facebook, that’t is not even the time the user is just checking his feed, looking at other profiles, etc. “The average user creates 90 pieces of material on Facebook every month.” “In 1600 AD there was 545 million inhabitants on this planet, Facebook as of 2010 had ~600 million users.” (hitechanalogy.com) WOW! That is pretty shocking. If there is a relation to my topic through this, it is that the misrepresentation of identity on Facebook is so widely accepted and present in the users. Who knows, maybe it is the boredom from sitting at your computer or waiting for that post from a friend that is causing a mental shift in the users, thus causing them to alter their portrayal of self.

I think this is a very controversial picture but a great one. Many people spend hours of their day sitting on facebook consumed with other peoples’ lives. I think many people need to go out and do something with their lives than just sit on facebook.

Reading Erik’s paper on Facebook really got me thinking about the dynamics of Facebook. I never really thought of Facebook as a bad thing but when I actually think about it, it makes me wonder. Facebook could be used as a weapon. I just watched a presentation on cyber bullying and it made me realize the social networking cites can really be used as a weapon for hatred and fear. Many people use Facebook all over the world including me. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be bullied over the internet. So many kids take their lives because they are constantly being cyber bullied and being talked about horribly on the internet. I think it is such a huge weapon because kids are not afraid to say whatever thy feel because they are hiding behind a computer.

I think the peer review that we are doing in class is a great concept. Although I am only going to be able to get four pages peer reviewed, I still think it will help me a lot. I used to be really insecure with my writing capabilities and I did not anyone to read what I had written. Now I know that if other people read my papers they can actually give me great feedback and actually help me with my papers. I also think peer review is great because my peers can help me get a better grade on my paper than just myself. I think when people get constructive criticism it really helps their paper and their writing skills. I am really excited for my peers to look at my paper because I want to be better at writing. I also like helping my peers with their papers because it helps me learn what to do and what not to do.

I really do struggle with writing. I am such a math person that English and I do not really get along most of the time. Although I really struggle with English, I am actually enjoying this class. I think it has really taught me a lot about writing. I never really liked writing before and I always dreaded when I was assigned to write a paper. Now that we have written so many papers on various topics, I am more prepared when I write a paper. I do not dread writing a paper anymore I just think of it as something I have to do. I also enjoy writing a paper when I am really passionate about the subject or topic that I have to write about. I really like the topic that I have chosen for my big paper for this class. Sex trafficking is a really serious topic and I love it. I have learned so many new things about it and it makes me excited to tell everyone what I have learned. This paper is a way for me to express my excitement of sex trafficking. I love being able to be excited to write a paper on a certain topic. I can’t say that I have ever been excited in my life to write a paper.

This photo makes me really upset to look at. My father is a cop and I would really hope he would treat people just trying to protest with this much disrespect. I can’t believe that police are able to do these kinds of things and no one can do anything about it. This takes me back to the Civil Rights Movement.This needs to be stopped.

They also threw tear gas into the location where the protesters were which causes the eyes to burn making it nearly impossible to see and hard to breath. Another method to get the protesters to leave they shot rubber bullets etc..

This photo is showing a lot about the police brutality. This is such a moving picture for your topic. If you were to show this to anyone I am sure you could get them on your side of the argument very easily.

Every college has their own distinct problems but the common issue they share is campus rape. The numbers that are shared may seem like a lot but that number is not including those rapes that weren’t reported. I can’t even imagine how many rapes go unreported because thats how women tend to handle…

This is so upsetting. I know there are so many girls that do get raped here which is really hard to hear. It is so embarrassing that our school is trying to cover it up. We should be trying to catch the rapist and not worrying about our reputation, like you said.

I am so ready for spring break to start. I have been very stressed out with school lately and it will be good for myself to have a break. I have had so much homework all week and so many tests to study for. I need spring break so I can just take time to myself to sit on the couch and do nothing. I am also so excited to see my family. I miss my family so much and it will be so good to see them. I used to be with my family every single day and now I barley get to see them every couple months. It makes me sad and miss them, but it makes it much better when I do get to see them when I come home.

I am having a little trouble deciding what my thesis topic is going to be. I want to be able to write and share all the examples and stories but I am i having trouble putting it all together. I have never been very good at writing and I am extremely worse at organizing my thoughts. My thoughts are always just jumbled up in my brain and I can never get them out on paper. That is why I am very nervous to start writing this paper. I feel that if I can get my thesis statement together, then I can get somewhat organized with my thoughts. I am so passionate about my topic and I love learning and absorbing the information, but I do not know what to write about. I have been fiddling with a bunch of different ideas and I hope I have the right thesis that will not restrict me on what to say.

My research has been going very well. Even though we stopped turning in annotations, I am still researching and looking for more things to write about in my paper. I almost got through the book I was reading about sex trafficking, but I had to turn in it before spring break to the library. I think i got the most out of it I could in the short amount of time that I had to read it. I have been finding a lot of different stories of victims of sex trafficking, but I have not really been finding a lot of actual facts or statistics. I am reading a lot of things about how there is too much focus on the sex trafficking business. I think that if there was too much focus on the sex trafficking business that something would have been done already to stop it. There are still so many girls being abused, starved, and exploited for other peoples’ greed. Although there are a lot of issues in the world, but sex trafficking should not be put under the shelf because someone thinks another issue is more important. I am really passionate about sex trafficking and I love reading stories, but I need more for my research paper.
